Prosecutors Indict Doctor in Medical Malpractice Case Against Rocker Shin Hae Chul

Prosecutors said Monday they have indicted a doctor on charges of medical malpractice that led to the death of popular rock singer Shin Hae-chul. The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutor's Office said Shin, one of South Korea's top rock icons died since his doctor, surnamed Kang, did not provide proper care after abdominal surgery.
The 44-year-old suspect is accused of not providing proper medical services when the singer experienced inflammation in the lining of his stomach after undergoing surgery. Shin died on Oct. 17, 2014, 10 days after undergoing the surgery at a hospital in southern Seoul.
